Gifted to the Pueblo South High School in the early 1970s by the Pueblo South Alumni Association, the iconic white Colt sculpture nicknamed “Pepper” greeted all visitors to 1801 Hollywood Drive.
But when a freak windstorm damaged the figure and forced its removal, the Alumni Association joined forces with South graduates Luke Whitehead (Everything Fiberglass) and Jim Valentine (Valentine Engineering) to refurbish and bolster the sculpture.
And now, in anticipation of the August 13 ribbon cutting to celebrate renovations at South, "Pepper" is finally back home.
