Colts expand their Spanish vocabulary animal exibitions

Inside Ms. Rosa’s Spanish 1 classroom at Pueblo South High School, students brought language learning to life through a creative “Animal Showcase” that capped a thematic unit on animals and habitats.

Serving as the final exam, the project challenged students to apply their expanding Spanish vocabulary -- with verb conjugation skills -- in a hands-on and imaginative way. From jungles to oceans to forests, students designed displays highlighting different habitats while reinforcing the words and concepts they had learned.

This year, the district added a state-recognized Seal of Biliteracy to the diplomas of graduates who display high proficiency in a world language.
